Pendo Launches Pendo for Agents, Ending an Era of Annoying, Unhelpful AI Agents that are Worse than Humans

Pendo for Agents improves agentic customer support and works with any in-app agent (built or bought) to elevate the end user’s experience, increasing the return on investment in agents
RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Pendo, the company elevating the world’s experience with software, today launched Pendo for Agents, a powerful new offering that turns any AI agent — built or bought — into a customer’s best advocate. The product gives agents real-time context to solve problems before users ask, arms product teams with data to prove AI agent investment is paying off, and stamps out agent slop that rapidly burns resources and irritates customers.
Pendo for Agents combines two products: Agent Toolkit, a new capability that feeds agents real-time context on user behavior so they can provide proactive, personalized in-app assistance, and Agent Analytics, Pendo’s existing product for measuring whether those agents work. In the past year alone, Agent Analytics has tracked over 47 million agent conversations across nearly 500 companies — momentum that helped earn Pendo a spot on Fast Company’s 2026 Most Innovative Companies list. Together, these two solutions cut costs for support teams and sharpen product roadmaps for agent builders.
Gartner forecasts that AI agent software spending will hit $376.3 billion in 2027 — yet expects more than 40% of agentic AI projects to be canceled in the same year due to unclear business value and escalating costs. That gap highlights the need for context: without it, an agent can’t proactively solve a customer’s problem and risks losing them over a single poor interaction.*
“Companies are pouring millions into agents with no idea if they’re working. We call them zombie agents — technically alive, burning tokens, delivering nothing,” said Todd Olson, CEO and co-founder of Pendo. “We’ve spent 13 years giving companies visibility into how people use their software and the tools to improve the experience. Pendo for Agents brings that same visibility and action to agents — so every agent, and every dollar behind it, delivers real value.”
Pendo for Agents is designed to work with the AI tools that companies already use — including Fin, Decagon, Sierra — as well as fully custom agents, built in-house, dramatically improving the quality of the experience and the outcomes they deliver.
Customers such as Teachable, an online course platform for creators, are already using Pendo for Agents to cut support costs and resolve issues before they become tickets. In mid 2026, Teachable connected Pendo for Agents to Fin, its AI support agent, giving Fin visibility into what users were struggling with before they asked for help.
“Because Fin is powered by Pendo, it’s catching customers at critical moments and resolving incoming questions before they become support tickets,” said Kathleen Ross, product support associate director at Teachable. “We’re already seeing Fin solve 86% of conversations without a human, all while maintaining a CX score of 4 out of 5 stars.”
Pendo for Agents is built for two core use cases.
For CX and IT teams, it means the support agents you build stop being purely reactive and start resolving issues in the moment instead of escalating them, freeing your team up to spend time with the customers who actually need a human to help.
For product teams, it means you finally know what customers need from your agent and which issues are coming up most, and for which accounts — so your next roadmap decision comes from real conversations instead of a one-time eval.
