Collaboration targets stranded and undervalued offshore gas resources, advanced semi-submersible platforms, and offshore data-center applications
HOUSTON, TX, UNITED STATES, October 23, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Houston Energy and Offshore Data Center Announce Collaboration to Evaluate Gas Monetization Options
Collaboration targets stranded and undervalued offshore gas resources, advanced semi-submersible platforms, and offshore data-center applications
HOUSTON, Texas – October 23, 2026 – Houston Energy, LP and Offshore Data Center, LLC announce plans to collaborate on solutions designed to provide Houston Energy additional optionality for monetizing potentially stranded natural gas. The collaboration leverages patented and proprietary designs that can potentially reduce semi-submersible hull weight by up to 50% compared with traditional designs while providing enhanced stability. The designs facilitate automated welding and advanced fabrication methods, creating opportunities for competitive construction along the U.S. Gulf Coast versus Korean, China and Singapore. Offshore Data Center also brings patented and proprietary closed loop cooling systems that will significantly reduce the data center cooling load, typically up to 40% of total data center energy use as well as improve power gen efficiency. “Worldwide a significant amount of offshore gas is never developed, or is simply reinjected, because getting it to market doesn’t pencil out,” said Art J. Schroeder, Jr. CEO of Offshore Data Center. “By putting the data center next to the gas, we eliminate the pipeline to shore and the transmission line, and we cut the cooling bill dramatically. Our innovative hull will also support ammonia / menthol production depending upon gas specs and economics.”
Together, the companies intend to be positioned to develop heretofore uneconomical / stranded gas resources with lower-cost solutions that will support U.S. maritime manufacturing, domestic energy development, super intelligence (SI), job creation and tax revenues.
About Offshore Data Center, LLC
Offshore Data Center, LLC develops offshore data-center concepts powered by natural gas at or near the source. The company targets gas that is stranded, uneconomic under conventional development models or otherwise undervalued, including gas reinjected beyond reservoir-pressure-maintenance requirements. Its concepts range from large-scale facilities for AI training to smaller, lower cost, faster-to-deploy configurations for edge and inference computing. By co-locating power generation and modular, liquid-cooled computing infrastructure near offshore gas supplies, Offshore Data Center seeks to reduce transmission requirements and cooling demands. In addition to gas-to-data applications using new-build and repurposed offshore assets, its platform concepts can support gas-to-ammonia or gas-to-methanol conversion where project economics and customer requirements favor those uses. The company is working with service and equipment providers to develop an end-to-end solution.
